Is there anyway I can monitor the bandwith my pcs use through my router? a peice of software perhaps?
Also because my Wireless lan isnt encrypted (getting there) is there anyway to monitor the pcs connected to it to look out for pikeys stealing bandwith?
for the connected to the wireless issue..
open a command prompt / linux terminal.. whatever
and type "arp -a" <- should do the job. showing u the ip and mac addresses u are currently or recently have had access to.
To ensure u see all your computers ping each of your ip's in turn. Then run "arp -a"...
Alternatively download GFILANGUARD.. this is teh sh*t. I guess it works for wireless networks too. It will scan your network and show EVERYTHING that is connected.. AND everything that is connecteds previous 3 sexual partners :)
Languard is good for scanning whats on the network, but it won't show you bandwidth being used.
If your router supports the SNMP protocol, then grab a copy of this . The free version lets you monitor a single source, the professional one Multiple sources.
