    Itunes and REMOTE

    Evening People

I have been enjoying using iTunes to an airplay device via REMOTE on my iPad. and every time I selected my library via REMOTE on the iPad my PC booted up and after a little while burst into life feeding my airplay device - awesome !!
I have today changed the OS from vista 64 to Windows 8, why ? Well I thought I would try it out on my second PC
I can no longer turn the PC on remotely via the iPad - any obvious things i'm missing ? All h/w has stayed the same although I did move it all into a smaller case, but apart from that and adding an SSD all the internals are identical

I'm guessing before the ipad was waking the mobo via lan signal ? However I have no ideas in this area so your assistance would be greatly appreciated - thank you in advance

    Re: Itunes and REMOTE

Not knowingly - I didn't actually do anytrhing to the previous sysyem to allow this operation, it just happened, and I thought it was standard fare. However I now am realising that perhaps it is not !
Win 8 will not start via remote whatever I do !!

    Re: Itunes and REMOTE

Did your previous build use an onboard network card or a plug in. If it had a plugin was there a small wire going to the motherboard from the network adapter?

    Re: Itunes and REMOTE

Thank you for your time and interest Blueball

The NIC is o/b and has not changed, all that has changed is the case, the o/s (vista 64 - 8 64) and the o/s install disc

Really annoying as it was a handy feature, come in from work, pick up ipad, select tune, wait 45 secs and tune played, rather than going to end of house, turn on PC, get ipad etc

In fact the reason I changed to an SSD was to speed up the wait time !!!!

    Re: Itunes and REMOTE

The only thing I can think of is the power saving features and what is allowed to wake up the PC. Try typing this in a cmd windows:

    powercfg -devicequery wake_armed

and it will list what is allowed to wake up your PC

    info on powercfg here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l...=ws.10%29.aspx
