Re: Dareos - Query on VM Cable connection packet loss

Can certainly be looked at mate, not back in till the weekend, but PM me your mac and i'll have a look. Is this an ongoing thing or a recent development? Usually packet loss on a line is indicative of a poor channel or downstream SNR (downstream snr problems are fairly rare these days and poor channel snr issues generally are cleared in 3-5 days).

Thats saying of course, that nothing your end is causing it. Have a check on cables, make sure that none of the coax is unterminated (is that a word?). Make sure that theres no torrents running when you test, and ideally test using a single wired connection directly to modem or superhub with the wireless turned off.

Just to add to this - I'm hitting a all time low (North Manchester/Salford) of 4Mb this morning on the 'up to 60Mb' - which is usually consistently 60Mb. :/

for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

New cat5e cables though out that incs the one from the ambit modem to the router
    Wired directly into router
New router [replaced the old buffalo router with a new asus RT-N66U router]
Coax cable has been unscrewed and and screwed back in tight
Torrents not a issue - not running any and havn't for a few months due to the traffic management policy - [due to shift patterns means i carn't torrent with out hitting the cap and having a naff connection for 5hrs is not something i want when am trying to play some online games]

This has been gettign steadly worse over the last few months, i know peak time traffic can be a issue for us all but when you can not stream a simple 320p vid from youtube it borders on why i am bothering paying for this.

Games can be unplayable at times even when you are on a uk server [even had issues conencting to a server hosted by some i know whos on vm cable service] - over the last say 3-4 months i would say the speed and just general responsiveness of the connection has dropped through the floor - use to be rock solid when we was on the 10mb service - it seems upping us to 20mb has upset something.....

Now granted i should log this via the forums/phone but the phone support is well dire and i would rather rub salt in a open wound then have to deal with the overseas call centres again [and this is why i pretty much say to any one on cable if it works good but if you have a problem then god help you] - also just to murky the waters - i am not the account holder even though i pay the bill for the broadband and know the security details its not in my name [not that this should make a blind bit of differance]

On a side note - is there a self install option for the 100mb service ie you ship the super hub out - we still have a blue ambit 250*{i think} modem - just there are a number of factors preventing anyone frm being able to say yes i can stay in all day waiting for some one to turn up that never does ¬_¬

Re: Dareos - Query on VM Cable connection packet loss

I did a self install on my SuperHub, it's reet easy. Just had to ring up to activate it as they'd activated the wrong MAC address. It was sorted in 5 mins...
