    Angry The Repater of Doom

What i am about to write is going to seem impossible but if anyone has any advice into fixing it, that will be great. But please do not say try another router, turn on turn it off, have you tried resetting to default ect... and it is setup correctly. I have tried all the normal steps.

SO here is the problem i have set up a repeater for my Dad to extend the range of WiFi, set this up during the summer and it has been work great but last week he was struggling to access random websites.

So naturally you think its something wrong with the setting so you go through it all and reset it but same problem.
Got another router plugged it in and great it work. Then reconfigure the repeater then guess what. Could not access some websites and the internet was slower. Turn repeater off still same problem? So how is the repeater affecting the access the website? Also if you wondering i am testing this on LAN and WiFi.

Now i put the old router back on again and I can access the WEB again???

So can someone please explain how its possible for repeater to work for 5 months to then cause problems and how on Earth does the repeater effect the job of the router and stop you access website while you are LAN to the router???.

If you have any suggestion please state cause phoning BT is going to kill me!

    Setup

    Phone like to
    ADSL Filter to
BT Home nub 2.0 (router) Splits to
    LAN goes to PC(100mbs)
    Wifi goes to repeater (300mbs)
Then any divce that uses Wifi uses repeater

Thanks guess if you can help

    I'll put aside my dislike of WiFi repeaters for one moment... OK I can't, why not just run ethernet to where you want the WiFi access and setup a Access Point, no halfing throughput, increasing lag, increasing traffic being broadcast. OK rant over, here goes;

Could it be interference on the WiFi channel that you are using, would explain why it would work for a while, then all of a sudden stop.
Try an android app call 'WiFi Analyzer' see who else is trying to use the same channel, and remember the interference may not be just wifi, it could also me something else running on the same frequency, think DECT phones, microwaves, 3G modems, bluetooth, etc...

You can also use inssider on your Windows machine to check for conflicting wifi channels.

    Re: The Repater of Doom

Thanks gues for your quick reply. I do agree cable other wifi but a iPod does not have room for cable. Also the repeater is used to access the Internet from a different building and cables are not Pratical.
I have updated the firmware and going to see if it makes a difference .
Also when connected by cable to the router you have the same problem once you set up the repeater. Odd should not effect the routers job
