Our website on google - probs please help

We have a problem with our school website when searching for it using Google.

When we type in Merdon Junior School it shows links to our old site and links to various pages within our current site. Our current site www.merdon.hants.sch.uk does appear but further down the listings.

Can anyone tell us how to ensure Google chooses our current site first and no longer lists the old site or just pages from our current site.

The bot will have to figure out that the old site is gone while it is crawling so re-submit the new site and the bot should crawl that one enter it into the db and the old one will be removed when it realises that it dosent work.

I *think* theres something official which you can put in the META tags which browsers read as the page changing location.

Head command things. Just put the name of the school in there as many times as possible.
