    Inexq 54g WAP/Repeater

I have one of these and I can set it up as an access point with no problems. Evertyhing is fine. However I want to use it as a repeater - and it is supposed to be able to do that.

I change the setting to make it a repeater and add the MAC for my access point (a 3com officeconnect G72 type). It continues to function as an access point (verified by draping cable to plug it into the wired network). The repeater and AP are in range of each other (20ft apart clear line of sight).

Has anybody any experience of setting up this access point as a repeater ?

I have tried all the usual suspects - e.g. remove WEP and access control from the entire wireless network.

Any help would be most welcome whilst I still have some hair left.

Check, but most WAPs will only work in repeater mode with other kit of the same brand.

I think that is likely. However it is frustrating that no mention of this is made in the sales literature or in the documentation (notable exception Belkin).

I have raised it with InexQ support but that seems to be a bit of a black hole. If 3COM did a repeater I would have bought one of those. Shame they don't.

    Thanks for your help.

Strange but true...my sister has this AP, and the same company's wireless pcmcia cards....and WEP just doesn't work! If wep is enabled, then all she gets is This connection has limited connectivity

Any ideas? Another pci card from inexq works well....pcmcia cards, have updated drivers etc. etc. but they just don't work....
Old puter - still good enuff till I save some pennies!
