    Network Mapping Software Recommendation?

    Hi guys,

Can anyone recommend some good, free, network mapping software?

One of either two types -

1 - Do-it-yourself type - Providing blank templates to create your own map
2 - Auto-analysis type - Obtains and provide information about the network - in this case, more bothered about data accuracy/thoroughness rather than how it presents the data,

    Thanks!

Evidently not. There were a couple of places talking about what replaced it but those don't seem available either.

    Thanks though.

    Any other ideas?

That's the extent of my experience I'm afraid, obtained only because we got in a couple of 3com switches and they directed you to that software...

nmap/zenmap are pretty much made for mapping networks, but it sounds like you're looking for something a little more fully featured than they'll give you out of the box. If you have budget to spend you could give http://www.solarwinds.com/products/lansurveyor/ a shot, seems pretty much exactly what you're after.

    Re: Network Mapping Software Recommendation?

I've just had a flashback - there are other packages i've used. The Dude is a free mapping and resource monitoring app:

    http://www.mikrotik.com/thedude

and Spiceworks does a similar thing but also provides an asset management angle as well...

    Just released: tech.zalando.com/meet-the-system-app

The System App is free and open-source, worth trying it out.
