    BT FTTC Dates Slipping?

Just noticed my BT FTTC date has slipped by 12 months! Has anyone else noticed a date slip?

    Re: BT FTTC Dates Slipping?

Well mine did say end of 2012, it's now changed to '2013' so I suspect this time next year I'll still be in the same state.

    Re: BT FTTC Dates Slipping?

mine slipped by 1 month, arrived january this year i think, not that i can afford it though

besides, why not install it yourself if its bothering you? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-21442348

edit: (dont know why i wrote that there)

after ive thought about it, it was supposed to be installed earlier last year, so mine was delayed 6-8 months or so.

southport will be totally FTTC'd by end of february/mid march, so its taken about 6 months from when they started.

    Re: BT FTTC Dates Slipping?

FTTC arrived 18 months late at my house. One of the most painful waits ever! Think there were 5 delays in total. I had to walk past the FTTC cabinet, only 10m from my door, everyday for 9 months before it was activated. Total torture

Worth the wait though. I got a 15x speed boost

    Re: BT FTTC Dates Slipping?

As a Londoner, mine slipped by 6 months, due to the increase in emphasis on countryside exchanges (ie money from government shifting focus, rather than most customers who'd be connected)

We were lucky enough to have ours moved up by a year
Someone left a note on a piece of cake in the fridge that said, "Do not eat!". I ate the cake and left a note saying, "Yuck, who the hell eats paper ?

Perhaps they are being more long term. After all, more of the city customers will probably have their livelihoods destroyed by riots or perhaps get shot because no matter where in London you live, you are never more than 2 miles away from a complete hole

I just checked mine on the Openreach page - now June 2013, so a 9 month delay currently. This has only been changed in the last couple of weeks. The one plus side is that by the time my exchange eventually gets enabled Be will hopefully have made some sort of fibre announcement so I'll know wether they'll be offering a fibre product or not.

    Re: BT FTTC Dates Slipping?

Still waiting on them doing something with lines that connect directly to an exchange. Or even upgrading my exchange to ADSL2+ would be a start.

    Re: BT FTTC Dates Slipping?

God I hope not, mine is supposed to be upgraded in a few months, its a crying shame that I went up my dads a couple of days ago, the man who struggles with email and barely uses the internet for me to see a 75Mbps download and 12Mbps upload speed. When I asked him about it, he said he didn't know what he got, just something off a BT salesman, to say I was almost in tears would be an understatement lol

    Re: BT FTTC Dates Slipping?

I have been having this issue for 2 years with bt infinity, every time it gets within 2 weeks of activation date they push it back another 3 months now the latest kick in the kahoonahs is the BT checker now states no date at all!!!! what really ticks me off is seeing the BT cab everyday with the logo stating fibre has arrived!!!!!!

    Re: BT FTTC Dates Slipping?

IIRC we were originally given a date of Dec 2012, and the cabinet installed around November, then it got pushed to March 13, now it's June 13. I occasionally see Openreach working in the area, and I've no idea what's so complex it needs to be constantly postponed, but I'm not holding my breath. Seems like they have no intention of meeting initial dates, and probably not second ones either, just glad we never agreed to switch to their ADSL package in the meantime, thinking we'd be upgraded in a few weeks!

Luckily we have semi-reliable VM in the area i.e. it usually works well but occasionally completely fails for a day or so, taking phone and TV with it. Still, it's more than a lot of people waiting for Infinity have.

I sent a quick email to BT's resale team, only to be told it's nothing to do with them, they only relay what Openreach tell them. Yeah but try actually getting in touch with Openreach...
