    wlan legality

Ok i have a dilema here

Just moved into my new house at uni, and we have set up our wireless network

We have 750k ntl broadband shared over the network, which is fine.

However some1 on our street [not our neibours, i've checked] has an unsecured wireless network with a 2meg line...

is it legal to connect to that and use it seeing as its unprotected?

If the Windows XP zero config util "automatically" connects to it and you obviously had no idea it was on the wrong network

Surely there must be a legal reason why you can't use something you haven't paid for...it is probably counted as theft, pure and simple!

Theft of what? If you weren't using it then theoretically the data would never have been there. You can't steal what isnt there

Yes and one that you shouldn't really worry about, unless you are going to be Wifispamming Surfing websites and msn isn't really gonna effect the user is it?

I'm on a borrowed line as I type this, no choice really! If someone can't secure their network and I get automatically connected, I can't help that!
