How much to connect to a fon wi-fi hotspot?

We are holidaying this year in a cottage which doesn't have wi-fi and which seems to be in a mobile broadband 'shadow', going by the coverage maps for Three and Vodafone.

In order to avoid my daughter going into a massive tantrum I'm hoping to be able to connect to a 'fon' wi-fi hotspot in the village where we'll be staying.

Can someone tell me how much it costs to use wi-fi in this way? I can't find any info on this on the BT Fon website.

I thought it was free if you had a BT landline, or a Vodafone mobile?

Re: How much to connect to a fon wi-fi hotspot?

Its free if you subscribe to BT Broadband. We have a BT landline and a Vodafone mobile subscription but I'm pretty sure we don't get free wi-fi through Fon.

Re: How much to connect to a fon wi-fi hotspot?

I don't use it but I have connected to BT WIFI fon in London where I work and see the prices listed as follow on their page:
    1 hour - £3.50
    1 Day - £5
    5 Days - £15
    30 days - £39

You will need register a BT WIFI account on the page to access the network. You can access more information from http://www.btwifi.co.uk/ and BT WIFI prices plan/product

Re: How much to connect to a fon wi-fi hotspot?

From somewhere I can recall that (hopefully I am right) if you allow your home broadband-wireless router to be a BT hotspot, you allow a free log-in? Or was that something entirely else?

Re: How much to connect to a fon wi-fi hotspot?

Thanks for the info folks. It seems that accessing a fon wi-fi hotspot is affordable - £15 for 5 days for instance doesn't seem too high a price to pay to stop darling daughter from whinging. I just hope that there is an access point close enough......
