Would you use Chinese networking gear?

With more and more Chinese designed equipment coming into the market; phones, routers etc... There is a western backlash over security concerns, what with the Chinese govt sponsoring hacking attacks and all:

Especially when you consider the almost insestuous relationship between govt and industry.

Would you risks a phone or networking equipment from a china based company?

There was a load of fake Cisco stuff knocking about a while back with security issues. I can't find the link at the moment.

Well i can tell you, you more than likely already are using chinese right now this second... Half of the Uks public network is based around Hauwei stuff for example. Which means if your communcating with any uk websites you're more than likely being routed through it...

Its a chinese company thats been recently accused (by the US) of using surveillance tactics built into its equipment to monitor data. Its used in a lot of the BT network, but the British governments official stance on it is that they are 'unconcerned'.

It's all made in China! If you wanted to prevent a back door then you need to produce every component locally.
