    Ever heard of a US RObotics ADSL Modem...

    ...that upgrades you from 512 to 1 meg for nothing? Dont see how it can, but just heard a rumour .. probably drivel.

    I think a CABLE modem may have existed that with hacked firmware could get around a particular bandwidth cap set by cable providers. However, seeing as though bandwidth capping is done at the exhange for ADSL, I can't see it being possible for ADSL.

    As a good example... my connection is a bit nuts right now (cheers Karoo) connecting at 2Mbit/s, but a speed test reports 512kbit/s, which is what I pay for. So even though I appear to be connecting faster... I'm not really
