    USB Wireless ?

    I need to setup a wireless network at home.

    Setup as follows;
    one/two workstations and a server in one room connected to a Swtich, ADSL Router connected to the switch.
    Currently one PC in another room which needs to access the Web and Server resources, distance about 20 feet, plasterboard walls.
    The only problem is the PC in question is a Compaq iPaq Desktop (PIII 1GHz) funky little box it is, but no PCI or PCMCIA slots unfortunately.
    I'm thinking a Wireless Access Point plugged into the switch, and then a USB Wireless Adapter plugged into the PC, but I don't know if the PC supports USB 2 or just USB 1... would a USB 2 device work OK on USB1 or could there be problems ?

    I'm fine with wired networks, just new to wireless and want to get it right...

    Only possible expansion on wireless would be a second PC and maybe a laptop (but doubt all three wireless devices would be in use at once), i'm thinking the 11g (54Mbs) kit would be up to the job...?

    If its a P3 - then it probably doesnt support USB 2. USB2 i think came in around the time that youd be buying P4-2Ghz / AMD XP 2000 type machines if i remember.

    I think running USB wireless on USB 1 would be quite slow.

    No worries, having a dim moment....

    It has an Intel NIC built in, so I can just get a media convertor, bit more expensive but will give the full 54Mb/s connection....

    Depends on which you get; I've got a machine on the other side of our car park using a Linksys WET54G wireless bridge. The range and signal strength are good but actual throughput is low.
