Hey all,
I just got myself a new fangled LG smart TV with all that crap and I am now trying to steam movies and stuff across my network. I am having trouble, and I suspect it is due to my Network connection at 100Megabits. The connection keeps lagging out when I access the folders. I can access the top 1-2 levels, but when I get deeper, and with more items in the folders, it just dies. I suspect this is to do with the large number of files within the folder, and the response time is beyond the minimums the TV expects
Therefore, I upgraded the router and my cables. I got myself a Netgear N300 (DGN2200v3), and due to the 15m cable length to my computer, I added Cat6 cables to everything. However, I am still getting only 100MegaBit connection speed.
My computer is a home built, which has been upgraded so many times the only original piece left is the case. It has a Asus P7P55D-E LX motherboard. The onboard network card has failed previously, and I have installed a Realtek PCI GBE Family Controller.
However, both the computer, and the laptop are still showing 100Mbit connection speeds. Any ideas on what is going wrong? I am just using the windows "status" check to confirm this.
Thank you for your time
Bryan

was just trying to relate the bandwidth to the amount of the file being moved per second. i.e. if your hour long film is 4 GB then divide 4GB by 3600 to get the amount of data moving per second. fag packet calculations i know (no accounting for dark scenes, static scenese, quiet scenes etc) but its a rough start.
