Do I need Dynamic IP to change my address ?

I want to try to get back into a forum I was banned from for a really petty reason ( simply not agreeing with that the mods ex was " hot " ) but am on static ip with vivaciti .

Is there any way round this other than changing my MAC as all the methods I've seen require dynamic IP.

Have a look at section 1 of the computer misuse act 1990.

Moreover, they've asked you to leave. Take the hint and leave.

    This.

If a forum has IP banned you, that's their choice. Don't ask on another forum how to get round it. Doesn't look good for you, and really isn't very good for us at all. Besides, do you really want to spend time on a forum that's chosen to ban you over something that petty? If someone did that to me, you'd have to pay me before I'd even consider going back there.

How do you think we would react if you were banned from hexus then we found you asking on another forum how to get around that ban?

It's not big, and it's not clever. Don't go there.

Re: Do I need Dynamic IP to change my address ?

Forums use IP based blocking? That's a bit rubbish. What about people behind proxies etc?

As others have said though not worth bothering with.

A very effective way of stopping harassment by technically illiterate users.

Wilfully aiding is an offense, which you've actually just committed. If I try to block one user from a system of mine, and someone helps that person circumvent the block (regardless of how inept the block is) it would mostly be a criminal offense. I've not looked it up, but I think that it's under section 37 of the amendments. Oh IANAL so could be all wrong, but I'm fairly sure I'm right

Under normal circumstances Id agree but the problem is there really exists no other forum of its type with the specific information it has to offer ( esp from that guy )

Without that knowledge it means Im severely hampered on what assistance / help I can get in finding way to get mobile / out of here unless I want to pay over 10 grand plus to get some one to build something .

I dont like it , but i like being stuck in here even less or stuck in mobility scooter with a crap battery that forces me to use the same routes over and over just to remind myself ( because the meters are so bad on these things ) how far Ive gone..

It just so happens too that nearly very engineer Ive meet who has offered help has been a royal ass**** that has made things worse.

2 yrs ago I had all my equipment I bought stolen by an engineer whsoo offered to help and now the other I sent my spnkix too had lost the remote and wont own up..

Im so desperate ( and he knows it ) I will prob have to let it slide and the £100.00 because it seems none of these guys have shred of integrity about them,or at least the ones Ive meet.

SO no i dont like any of it , or brown nosing them for info like Im pampering a baby , but what choice do i have ?

Re: Do I need Dynamic IP to change my address ?

Regardless of the reasons for your ban on the other website, that site has withdrawn permission for you to access it as member.

Your best recourse is to contact the site's owner/webmaster and ask for a review of the circumstances that lead to your ban and see if you can get it lifted.

As you are finding, the internet is not always a 'free-for-all' and some sites (including HEXUS, I might add) requires a standard of behaviour that shows a degree of sensitivity and respect for other users.

If the site has banned your IP address, it may be because you have tried signing up under different usernames, which has been detected, and to be quite frank, any banned user who tried that here would probably get the same treatment.

HEXUS will not provide a platform for you to break the law - in particular the computer misuse act. Furthermore, HEXUS does not condone hacking or other activity to get around computer protection systems.
