    Question 4 bay NAS Enclosure

    Hi guys,

This might not be the best section, but it's where I'll start. Are there any 4-bay NAS enclosures that will allow me to connect over (Gigabit) Ethernet AND eSATA (Or USB)? Fast as possible preferably so user experiences would be nice if shared.

And I'm sure you're wondering, if I can use Ethernet, why would I want eSATA/USB? Well it's because of my stupid media player that can only connect over USB or eSATA .

I will also want to access the NAS through my network and NOT have to lug the box backwards and forwards if it's just eSATA/USB connected. That way I can stuff things from my PC onto the box, or play something on the TV. Not too much to ask is it?

    Thanks!

    Re: 4 bay NAS Enclosure

OK, looking at the specs it seems a full blown NAS is a bit beyond my needs. Think I'll just scale back to a DAS device with multiple ports (i.e. USB3 and eSATA).

    Any suggestions?

    Re: 4 bay NAS Enclosure

I'm still voting for the Microserver for any storage needs. You can get them £80-85 new (£100 cashback) and will cover all your storage needs (unless you fill up 12tb like I have ).

A good external drive costs that.

G8s are coming soon, another bump in CPU (now a Pentium), USB3, new chassis and dual Gb NICs.

Suspect it'll be more expensive though.

Well, it's $529 on the page you've linked to - so that'll be £529 when it arrives over here, I suspect

I guess Drobo are probably the market leader in that sort of storage, but I've never used any of their products myself...
