is the router also your modem? or is the modem seperate?

Any lightning recently? and is it plugged in a surge protector?

Do the lights on the router, if it has any, flash?

you could set static ip's just incase the DHCP daemon somehow screwed up. As for linux gateway, all it shows is the gateway is now upnp compliant.

    Factory reset on router?
Certainly sounds like it's kicked the bucket if it doesn't even respond to DHCP discoveries.

well, in the manual it says, hold the reset button for few seconds, watch the status light at front same time, when that light goes off, release button. but the button never goes off.

Is it D-Link by any chance? Does it come with a serial cable? I changed the MAC address on my net controller once, and it caused the router to forget its own bridge interface MAC address?!!?!? Dont ask how...

Anyway, as I was reading the back of the unit to D-Link tech support , somehow it occured to me that the MAC address on the unit's controller where incorrect. Set the correct one on the bottom of the router, and bingo it worked. Very strange how me changing my MAC address on a system could cause that thou :S
