Hey Hexites,
A while back I managed to setup a connection as follows:
O2 Wireless Box IV --wirelessly--> TP-Link WR702N in Wired Client mode --ethernet cable--> TV without wireless built in.
This enabled me to use the internet on the TV wirelessly and without using up any main sockets (the TP-Link mini router is powered via USB).
However, after not using it for a while (maybe 3 months or so?) it's refusing to connect. What I did was take off the TP-Link and connected it to a laptop to test if it'd connect the internet (I disabled the wireless adapter on the laptop) which it did fine so I plugged it back into the TV and it managed to get online. However, not long after it dropped the connection again and when I tried to reconnect it, it refused to connect and it doesn't seem to be working with the laptop either.
I then reset the device and plugged it back into the laptop and performed the following steps:
(Note: the O2 wireless box has 192.168.1.254 as the IP Address and the default IP address for the TP-Link WR702N is 192.168.0.254
1) I went into the adapter settings > properties > internet protocol version 4 and changed it to use IP Address 192.168.0.10 with subnet mask 255.255.255.0
2) Opened the internet browser > entered 192.168.0.254 and it loads up the setup page for the TP-Link.
3) I put it back into client mode (it has AP, repeater, bridge, router, client modes) as I don't need it to broadcast a wireless network and enter the details of the current network for it to connect to.
4) I reset the internet protocol version 4 settings. (Change it back to obtaining an IP address automatically). DHCP is off by default. However this doesn't work.
5) Additionally, I read that the TP-Link's IP address needs to be within the range of my O2 router so I tried changing the IP address to 192.168.1.200 and reset the internet protocol version 4 settings again but it fails to connect to the internet this way either.
What am I doing wrong? I'm a networking noob so hopefully someone can explain it in simple step-by-step terms.
Thanks!
