    NTL Lovliness

    http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/11/03/ntl_q3_04/

NTL's entry level 300k service will be supercharged to 1Mb while still costing £17.99 a month. Its new 2Mb service will cost £24.99 while 3Mb will cost £37.99.

Can't wait, we are finally catching up with the rest of Europe.

Hmm, I might drop down tariffs then to the 300K>1MB & save £7 a month & still have a faster service. I do think that the £25 charge to switch existing customers is a bit of cheek though.

THATS GONNA TAKE A WHILE GUYS

First off: They have only just finished upgrading the 150 to 300, the 600 to 700 and the 1 meg to 1.5 has not arrived in lots of places.

After announcing that it took them a long while to actually do.

The 1 meg used to be £35 but went up to £38 3 months before the 1.5 meg was announced

I have since dropped to the 700 from the 1 meg, cos while I got the new Set top box for the new faster speed, it just never arrived after 3 months...and while 1 meg is nice it was £13 per month (ie a new graphics card every year) more dough.

So while it is a good service....and I like NTL broadband very much...it is ...er....slow to arrive

im crying, seriously, i live in dundee, scotland. We get Telewest cable which sucks like a 400bhp vacuum cleaner. I would kill for NTL which i used to get in my home town. sob. i pay 26.99 + line rental for 1 meg adsl, i could afford 3 meg for that. sob.

    is cable still synchronous (sp?)

    also....note:

If you do an NTL search in an area that you KNOW has no Cable laid in the pavement but that you also KNOW has ADSL on the BT lines.....

they offer you a Broadband connection, but in small print, note that its not their service!!!! Bit of a waste of time really

Theres an apparent catch which isnt mentioned in that article, that is there will now be monthly download limits not daily (as i think the case is now with ntl): Clicky

Still an 128k upload on cable ain't it ?

If thats the case I'll be stopping on ADSL for a while longer. Its not so much download speed I desire, more an upload speed and good routing so I can host gaming sessions

300 and 700 connections hav only 128 upload (or the nearest) cable equiv..so its slow to send.

The 1 meg gets the 256 upload....its that one I liked the most...not the download speed...the upload...for hosting Internet games/servers.

Think even at 3 meg you get 256 upload

It doesn't mention the new caps which I'm sure will be enforced.
    300K 1MB – £17.99. (5GB monthly usage allowance)
    750K 2MB – £24.99. (30GB monthly usage allowance)
    1.5MB 3MB – £37.99. (40GB monthly usage allowance)
