Virginmedia, new ip

Hi,

I would like to get a new I.P address with virgin media and have been looking on here as to how it can be achieved.

Can i confirm that if i was to buy a new superhub2 router this would do the job?

I an not be 100% sure, but with the new device having a different MAC i would think that they would give it a new IP Address.

Might be better to use something like Dynamic DNS for whatever you're up to?

I've read that going offline for about 48 hours will -probably- get you a new IP, but not a safe bet. Depends if it goes back in the pool and gets recycled to something else.

If you have a superhub then switch to modem mode and back again, changes IP. Ambit/Motorola/scientific Atlanta/Cisco leave it off approx 24 hrs
