    Replacement for Nildram

My contract with Nildram is now up Ive been paying £29.99 a month for 512/256 and would like to step up to 1mb is this possible for that price? No caps is important. Or do I pay Nildram £34.99?

    Cheers Dak

I am with Eclipse and very happy, but I recommended them to someone else who was less than impressed. Appears their new "flex" account is not very good???

Nildram, Plusnet, Eclipse are all good providers. have a look on www.adslguide.org.uk at the most recent speedtest tables and the forum there for a few inside thoughts about the ISP's.

I'd have said Eclipse because of the Flex speed....but Clingy can tell us what went wrong for someone else.

Zen are good, you'll be paying nearly £35 a month for 1meg, but the customer service is excellent

At the end of the day all adsl is controlled by bt for the most part so whoever you use is reliant on bt .

I use talk talk for my phone and it cost me about £3-4 a month compared to £15 plus on bt

29.99 for a 2 Mb bulldog line here mate

Signed up when they had the "primetime" switching i.e 2 Mb 6pm to 9am which is when I am home - 2 Mb night and 512 during the day.

Bulldog had a few issues with the servers switching and scrapped all the "primetime" products and upgraded us all free to 2 Mb all the time for no cost

Awesome speed as I agree on Bulldog ( now C&W ) and hopefully I'll be getting 4 Mb as soon as my exchange is LLU'ed early next year.

It's important to remember that cost isn't the only factor you should consider.

I'm on Nildram's 512Kbps/22.99 per month package and it has been flawless for pretty much the last two years. I get pretty much 59K transfer speed all the time. They've also just regained the lead in the ADSL Guide's top 10 fastest broadband ISPs for Oct 2004.

I've been looking at stepping upto a 1Mb connection recently and, since Nildram's offering is £34.99, have seriously considered the likes of Supanet (£22.99) and Broadsurf (£26.99) however I've held back after checking out the forums on ADSL Guide.

Nildram has 8x155Mbps central pipes whereas Supanet has a single 155Mbps central pipe. There are quite a lot of unhappy Supanet customers on the forums complaining about low download speeds in the evening.

You're not getting a bargain when your 1Mb connection only gives you 512K!

I'll be sticking with Nildram for the time being and hoping that they reduce the price of their 1Mb offering. I think £34.99 is too much, however I would be willing to pay in the region of £27 for an uncapped 1Mb service.

    cheers,
    dave
