Hello:
On my iPhone, I have email addresses hosted by three companies: LunarPages, GoDaddy, and Time Warner Cable. Using their outgoing servers did not work. Do I have to use an Apple server, and, if so, which one?
Thanks for your help.

Is there an option to supply authentication for their SMTP servers (ignore POP3, that's for incoming email). If you can it'd be best to use the SMTP server that comes with the email account as a given mail provider may restrict what address you can send from when you go via their SMTP server.
For example, gmail's SMTP server will not let you send emails from a hotmail.com address, it'll overwrite the hotmail address with your gmail address.
Details for Apple's SMTP server can be found here -> http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4864

Here is the error message I get when I use the outgoing server for ine of my email addresses:
Unable to Send Email. A copy has been placed in your Outbox. The sender address "[my email address]" was rejected by the server.
I do not know what server rejected my message. When I send from my computer, no problema!
On my iPhone, I set Authentication to "Password". Did not help. WAIT, it did not send automatically from the Outbox when I got into my mail program (same error message), but when I got into compose mode and clicked Send, the message was sent.
Thank you for reminding me about the need for authetication. I had authentication on "Passwod" only for incoming mails.
