    8Mbps downloads? Yes Please!

    http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/11/16/uk_online_llu/

Doesn't mention upload speeds but at least it shows that people are trying to help the UK catch up with the rest of the world.

    absolute sh!te:

    2.12.
We reserve the right to suspend or restrict your use of the Service if we consider it excessive for a single connection. An example of unreasonable excessive use of the Opensurf Service would be where you set up your computer to automatically redial after being disconnected for exceeding the 2 hour session limit stated above. If you use the Broadband Service, we would consider regular or recurring data transfer in excess of 4 Gigabytes per day to be an example of excessive use.

Thats abysmal tbh. But im sure other companies will catch up with them on more reasonable terms. At least we are getting faster, slowly but surely.

4 gigs is not plenty when you and 5 mates use the same connection.

those statements can be accessed from http://www.ukonline.net/8000/ then click product terms. so it is in relation to the 8meg service.

still its not to bad if your not a big downloader and you want the absolute fastest.

Thats stupid. Broadband is an "always on" connection and 16 hrs a day maybe good for some but for people like me who run crunching stuff that needs server comms all the time i.e UD thats stupid really.

As for limits... thats like having a XJ-220 and being told you can only use 1st 2nd and 3rd gear. Absolutely pointless.

those terms are not in relation to the adsl, its for there dial up.
there is just a soft 4gb per day limit.
(ie you have to go over it many times)

2 hour limit KILLS the gaming potenial...you just dont need to have a Stop CLock by your PC to remind you that you've got 5 minutes left before you get dropped

ignore the time limit thing Zak, that was only for dial-up

the only limit is a 4GB/day download limit

I repeat again, OpenSurf = DIAL UP. This doesnt effect their ADSL solution.

With a service that quick I dont want limits tbh.

I think the 4GB limit per day is perfectly acceptable, and when you get up to those sorts of speeds it ends up being pretty much a requirement to keep the service running, can you imagine what would happen if they didn't limit it?

Their network would be over-run with warez happy leechers in no time flat, which would cripple it for all their other customers

i can download over 4gig in a day and im on a half meg connection, so imagine what can be got in a day on this 8meg line? pretty pointless, if youve got your limit by mid afternoon then it gets chopped off.
