Streaming video and audio from pc to tv

Hi

I would like to stream video and audio from my pc to the tv. By that I mean I wish my tv to play, exacly what my pc monitor and speakers play.

they are unfortunatly in seperate rooms. A wireless solution is probably going to be the only way (atleast untill we get the laminate down, I'll chuck a few runs of cat5 down then lol.)

I was looking at wireless hdmi adapors. But they seam to run well above £100, which I certainly will not be paying.

Is there another (cheaper) solution? I swear I was looking at wireless vga apators a couple of years ago for around £50? I cant see any anymore though, + I'd still have to sort audio then...

Yeah, thanks for that, that was was pretty helpful.... Disapointing, but helpful lol.

Might just do the whole trailing a 10m hdmi lead through the lounge, and put it away after thing...

EDIT - unless somone can suggest a miracast sender and recever that work well with no lag?

Use a half decent net enabled bluray player, stream via that over cat6. I have a Samsung 6900 which works perfectly even at full HD & DTS,

I stream from my NAS over Homeplug powerline adapters, without issues. DLNA capable Blu-ray players start at about £50 or so, & you could always run a DLNA server on your laptop. Although a long HDMI cable might be the cheapest option

I remember reading something about a Roku Streaming stick .Its similar to chromecast but comes with a remote control as well

HDMI over Ethernet kit and some powerline adapters? Not sure if the powerline network would be high enough quality though, they tend to recommend CAT6 cable for HDMI over ethernet...

If anyone fancies sending me some HDMI - Ethernet adapters I'll happily test it

Is it movies you want to stream?
If so, a real cheap solution is to buy a Sky NowTV box for £9.99, and install Plex on your PC. You can then run the Plex app on the NowTV box and voila! It works a treat.

I wanted to play some games too really.

I've got the ps3 conrollers working wirelessly to my pc now, and it works from the living room. Thought it would be kinda cool to play on the big screen every now and then. I think pretty much all wireless solutions are going to have to much delay for that though.
