ICS for a domain cleint, again

Hi, i know i have posted this before, but im still majorly stumped by it!

    - I have a domain, with a server, and two clents

    - what i need to do is share a conection, FROM one of the clents(ICS host), TO the 2nd cleint, and the server.

So far, i know the ICS has to and a ###.###.0.1 address, i need to share the internet conection in question

-then, i think i have to set it up with the 2nd clent having the domain server as the default gateway, and then i need the domain server setup so that when it gets asked for an internet conection directs that request though to the the ICS host?

    - assuming thats right, the bit im stuck onit how the get the domainserver to forward the internet request onto the ICS host!!

    - how do i do this??

    thanks, daniel

Okay, firstly your naming convention is backwards
A server "hosts" a service, your clients are just that - clients.

You also don't need to have an IP of 192.168.0.1 for the ICS server either, it may automatically change it to this but it will work on any valid IP address, you can change it back afterwards (I used this on Windows 98).

For the sake of example, let's say the ICS server is given LAN IP address 192.168.100.250, with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0.

In order for your clients to be able to contact the Internet they need 3 things:
    - a valid IP address & subnet mask
    - a name resolution (DNS) server
    - a default gateway

By "valid", the IP address and subnet mask combination has to be able to work with the DNS server and default gateway, so your 2 clients could be 192.168.100.x and 192.168.100.y, where valid values for x and y are:
    - between 1 and 254 inclusive
    - not equal to each other
    - not equal to the default gateway or DNS server

So, 1 and 2 are valid values (and 250 is the one you can't use).

The clients' DNS servers and default gateways are both 192.168.100.250, as ICS will proxy DNS resolution and is the gateway to the Internet.

    The clients could have:
    IP address: 192.168.100.1
    Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
    Primary DNS Server: 192.168.100.250
    Default Gateway: 192.168.100.250

    IP address: 192.168.100.2
    Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
    Primary DNS Server: 192.168.100.250
    Default Gateway: 192.168.100.250

To be honest this is kind of basic stuff if you already have set up a domain, though...

    yeah, ok
    - but i still, ive shared the conection on the ISC host

But what do i have to on the client PC?
    - before it was one a domain, i used to run the conections wizard, which used to put a "internet conections gateway" thing next to the rest of the netowrk conections, how do i get do that sort of thing with domain in place?
