I have Talk Talk fibre and want a new router. Can I just swap them over

As Title I am on talk talk fibre and when the standard router behaves and doesnt need resetting its pretty darn fast. BUT the router needs resetting so often its doin my head in. Can I just buy a new better router and swap them over.
I can guess it isnt going to be that simple tho ???

Is it the official talk talk 'huwai black router of crapness' ?

I got rid of the huawei one with an asus router. Took all of 5 minutes to set up no problem.

Obviously make sure you know your username and password for the service - TalkTalk preload the routers with either generic username & passwords or specific ones for your account so they work with zero configuration.

If you call up talk talk most ISPs will talk you through the settings to set up a new router. If you don't know where to put those settings in you call the technical support of the router manufacturer.

( I have reviewed a lot of routers for magazines. Never underestimate the time saving of picking up the phone and getting a specific answer for your specific hardware/connection ).

It should work as long as the new router works with fibre, you may need to set up with the instructions it comes with.

Depending on what model of router you have it might be possible to "extract" your username/password if TalkTalk are unwilling to give you those details.

But it may very well be as simple as your TalkTalk username and client area password - I can't speak for them, having never been with them.
