Righto need some help....

Well despite blocking ports etc winmx still works on my sisters pc grrrr
so when i play cs i get a ping of around 600
so i need a program that will either stop her being able to install it, or a program that will allow me to control her pc down the network and shut down winmx.

Any more ideas/suggestions?

Umm, I'm guessing but could you allow remote desktop connections on her PC, then sneakily log in and kill the winmx process, log out and start playing?

she would have to send me the remote desktop invite though wouldent she everytime, i dont know how to do it so i can do it any time without the invite

you install it on both computers and then you can access hers and see her desktop. In fact you could pretty much do anything to her computer as if you were sitting at it. Works very well over networks and isnt even too bad over the net aslong as you have a broadband connection.

what about remote administrator (all you have to do is install it on both pcs, then go on hers and hide the taskbar icon permenantly)

if you could i dunno set fire to some valuable of hers and put it outside in the garden, that might distract her then sneak onto her pc and install remote admin, and set it up to be constantly on. then you can just connect (using her ip), she doenst have to have any part in you controlling her pc that way, she wont know a thing about it

so you can just wait till she uses the bathroom then quickly remote admin her and shut down winmx then play away!

pps the 'set something of hers on fire' thing is purely for example purposes, i dont recommend you do that, rather choose something else such as telling her that her favourite tv program is on (if you like the fire idea then at least have the decency to film it for us.......)

If you go out through a firewall/router then block the relevant ports on the router. That will stop all devices on the network accessing the net on blocked ports. Make sure that you save the config and change the admin user password on the router to prevent resets and reconfigs.

assuming her computer has a software firewall just add winmx to the blocked/do not allow internet access programs list?

you could also do a simple batch file that deletes the winmx .exe and set it to run at start up

The port blocking on the router/firewall shoul do it. It seems that not all ports are blocked. You may want to run a sniffer and see where the leaks are. They are easy enough to get. Just download one from ZDNET or someone similar.

At this point I'm assuming that you access the net through a broadband router with firewall cpability and that you and your sister's PCs are attached either by CAT5 ethernet cable or wireless.

bah, if its XP just cut her rights down totally so she can install any exe files, uninstall the winmx and then hear her bitch and moan lol
