I heard that you can use gmail as online storage. You can upload to it using a prog... your not supposed to though. I might have read it in this weeks micro mart... or could have been the pc extreme or pc format that are not out yet... Ahh just realised your from the US, look it up on the net. It might be called Gmail drive.

i use my spare gmail accounts, download gmailfs...but its only good for backing up stuff really, to redownload it you have to be logged in so its no use for public downloading, and you can only upload 10mb at a time (gmail max attachment limit), but its good for backing up photo's and stuff..

If you just need to host files for a short period of time, consider setting up a server yourself. IIS comes with Windows XP Professional, and Apache is free if you prefer to use that. Then it's just a case of setting up you firewall to let people connect, then give out your address so people can connect. The size of files you can share won't be limited at all, you could share your whole hard drive if you wanted to (but I don't recommend this ).

Of course it helps to have a fairly decent upstream on your internet connection.

No. There is nothing wrong with a properly set up IIS server.
