Recommend a router to replace useless Plusnet one?

    Hi all,

As the title suggests I'm looking to get a router to replace the dire technicolor one supplied by Plusnet - I keep having issues with them losing connection and the wifi strength is poor. Ideally I'd like one with a built in modem but which will also play nice with Virgin Media as I will likely be moving to a Virgin area before the end of the year (I think I'm right in saying you can switch the Virgin router to modem mode anyway?). Its not a large place so I don't need to go overboard in that respect.
Since I'm buying one I figure I may as well get an a/c device.
My only other requirements are reliability and ease of use since I'm by no means an expert with networking.

Ideally I'd like to keep the budget around the £100 or less if possible.

    Any suggestions?

Re: Recommend a router to replace useless Plusnet one?

Thanks, I was going to keep looking but I got so sick of my crappy connection that I bought an Asus DSL-N66U today on my lunch break. Took 3 hours to set it up (updating firmware etc but mostly because I was stupidly entering the ISP username incorrectly )

Its all up and running now and so far so good

Just trying to find a way to access USB drives connected to it thru my phone to watch movies. I'm using ES File Explorer and I can see the router and the folders but it's saying Login fails, the account has no permissions even though I have asked the router to request a password. Doing some digging to sort it out

EDIT: I just installed Asus's AICloud app and it works like a charm
