    Cheapest 802.11g setup

AS the title said basicly, needs to conect 3 pc's to the network but at atleast 54mbs (hence g).

    ebuyer price for 3x USB adapters and 1 x router 98.53 + p&p of around £5.

is there a cheaper option than this? (apart from scrounging round ebay which isnt all that cheaper at the moment to be thruthful)

is USB better than PCI / PCMCIA cards? or is it just easier - i guess if it's the same price then it makes sense -

You can do it with 3x 108 Mb/s PCI cards slightly cheaper & imho PCI cards are better than USB solutions.

    MSI P55-GD80, i5 750

Easier. What chipsets are your mainboard based on ? Some VIA series and some intel i845's have issues with USB transfer.
