    firewalls on shared computers?

    so this is whats happening,

i have my main computer and my shuttle computrer (see sig for specs)

the main computer is conected the inter internet, broadband 1mb bt via USB modem, and the shuttel connects to the internet from this via a wirless entwork of two pic 54mbps cards, i shared the internet connection ysee.

i have my wfirewall on my main computer to stop it getting viruses and such, bbut what im wondering is will the the shuttle get these viruses transmitted through the wireless network, i.e. does my firewall protect my shuttle computer or would i need ot protect my computer ASAP?

    thanks thomas

Yeh it should as the connection has to come through your pc via your firewall, before it goes to that pc

A firewall won't protect you from viruses on its own you need to make sure you have some anti virus software on both machines as well....

Now a decent router with a built in WAP and firewall out benefit you. PCW have em on offer at £44.99 iirc

if you can afford the router grab it

Makes life so much easier had it setup someit similar at home before we got a linksys wireless router and now it makes so much more sense!

Believe the offer is in store..

I'd stick some AV software on it, better to be safe than sorry.

You'll viruses on there whether or not it goes through the main pc for inet connection. They are attached to webpages and stuff, the host machine prob won't pick up cos its just pass through.

Get some AV software on there soon as!!!
