    'Which c£100 router?' or similar

I'm being offered one as part of an upgrade but it's going to cost £9.99 to activate, is it worth it?

My current superhub has 2.4 and 5Ghz wireless, but not both at the same time, so I was thinking that would be a bonus for a start.

Just not £100% sure, with the Superhub 3 on the way...

re: 'Which c£100 router?' or similar

So, after a quick chat with Dareos, I decided that it's not worth paying the extra (£6 a month) for 200Mbps, when I'll be getting an upgrade soon anyway (currently on 100Mbps), and I'd be better off getting a separate router, so, next question is, which router?

I've read the reviews of the Synology RT1900AC and had a look at the TP-Link Archer VR900, so I'd be looking around that price.

I don't need a modem, which I think the TP-Link has, would I be better off looking at the Archer C9? The specs seem the same, it's cheaper and doesn't have the modem...

Oh, and can any admin change the thread title to 'Which c£100 router?' or similar? I can't see how to do it myself?

Have a look at Asus routers, the Merlin forks of it's software are based on the Asus interface and give you some really good bells and whistles.

Another vote for the Asus routers, I have an older RT-AC66u and its been faultless in the last few years I've had it, running merlin firmware.

If you have a Curry's nearby then see if they have this deal instore, it's a great router at a great price, unfortunately none left in my local store.

Unfortunately, none in stock, and they couldn't even find it on their computer. I think they were just searching their internet site though...

Might try the big one on TCR tomorrow lunch...

Damn, not on their website site though, in store offer only. Probably chasing a wild goose, bit like Tesco instore offers, but quite a few had success on HotUKdeals.

I always do it by clicking advanced when I am in the edit section?

I would aim for a AC68u or above specs wise if you can as the ac66 is behind specs wise with most wireless cards coming out. Still good though.

I have the TP Link Archer VR900 (1900Mbs), I've been very pleased with it since upgrading. It's definitely improved wifi performance through my house (had a cheaper TP-link 300Mbps solution previously). Clean interface and solid connection.

I get wifi 9 detached houses away with my modded Asus router
Not that it matters as the S6 like any other phone isn't capable of transmitting that far so I dialed it down.

Yeah, I looked at that one. I don't need the ADSL/VDSL modem though, I presume the C9 or D9 is the equivalent without the modem?

Correction: D9 does have modem. So just the C9 then...

Re: 'Which c£100 router?' or similar

Right, just walked all the way to TCR PC World (miles!), according to the computer they had 1 in stock, they couldn't find it on the floor or in the warehouse.

BUT, price was showing as £79.97! Good price, if you can find one...
Apparently there are 4 stores around London that have the unit, all in different corners and all nowhere near me.
