In that case I'd say that you're probably looking at some third party software, http://www.browsecontrol.com/ for example.

just buy a cheapy hub to go in to his computer. Parents unplug when they dont want him to have access. Easy.

Or just unplug the network cable.

At a guess, you've got a DSC-504T (that's what I found on the Dlink site as being an all-in-one jobby like you described.

    Have a look here http://www.dlink.co.uk/

I had a look at the set-up guide for the router and you might be able to limit his access using that. Go to the advanced tab in the routers control panel, hit the access button on the left hand side and set a rule for his PC in there.

You'll have to assign an IP addy to his PC though, to stop the router assigning him one and then not applying the rules to his new IP address.

You can do that by right clicking on the icon for his network card on his PC, select TCP/IP properties and then punch in an IP addy for him. The router will be 192.168.1.1 (most likely) so assign his machine something like 192.168.1.2 or any other number... subnet mask will be as it automatically appears and in the "gateway" bit stick in the routers IP and you're off!

Once you've got that lot done you can change his access times to suit and once you've saved them in the router you won't have to go back all the time.. so you could turn it on for three hours after school each week and have it on for 6 hours on a Saturday... or thats the theory!

    Have a look see.

but if he's got access to all the pc's then that's not really going to help as he'll just be able to go on another pc and still have net access..

you need some sort of passworded program that runs on all of the machines..

Actually.. that's a point, does zone alarm have a passworded config function?

Yeah but, no but, yeah but, no but...yeah... BUT... if the other PCs are somewhere where he can be seen using them, then that works around that one doesn't it? Ner!
