    Question Problem with homeplugs

    Equipment:

    BT Home hub 5
    Bt home plugs
    TP-LINK av500 2 port

So I have been using the hh5 and bt home plugs for a while with no issues. However, I needed a wired link from my server to my htpc. I tried wireless but it was awful. Couldn't even stream a movie.

However since I added the new TP-LINK devices the home hub keeps crashing. I originally had both the TP-LINK and the bt plug directly attached to the back of the home hub with a cable.
However I have now tried juat one lead going to the back of my router which is connected to my switch. I have tried connecting both home plugs now to the switch but it still isn't working.

If I take away the TP-LINK it works fine.

Now I know the problem is with the TP-LINK and the fact my home hub seems to hate a major networking brand. but any idea what is causing it and if it can be fixed?

    Re: Problem with homeplugs

It would be astonishing if you could use two brands of home plugs on the same mains circuits. Each uses a slightly different approach and will interfere with the other. You might try again with wireless if you bought a higher powered access point.
