VM Broadband Speed increase - new modem?
Hi, I arranged to go onto the 200mbps service from Virgin on Tuesday, an upgrade from 100mbps, but on getting home, there was no increase. Attaching my laptop directly to my Asus router got me ~99mbps. I rebooted the lot, but still only got that amount. Before I call and say'where's my bloody upgrade?', anyone know if I need to do anything else with my equipment? I've got the SH2 in modem mode, so it should be OK for this service, right?
Re: VM Broadband Speed increase - new modem?
Is the WAN port of the router gigabit? If you connect your laptop to the modem, is the link speed gigabit?
Re: VM Broadband Speed increase - new modem?
You need at least the SH2 for the 200mb service from what I was told, at least that was the excuse for not doing it when I phoned, one courier drop of a SH2 later and I was on 200!
If you have a SH2 phone up as they can do it in under an hour.
Logging into the hub you should have this
"Max Traffic Rate 220000000 bps"
on this page http://192.168.100.1/cgi-bin/VmRoute...perationCfgCgi
or whatever ip/url to get into it.

I did it in the shop on Oxford Street, the helper rang up and arranged it, told me it would be 24hrs. I left it 24 hrs, and got the above. I'll try what you suggested when I get home tonight, will it work if I'm in Modem mode? I presume so? I did look on the Asus router to see if there was anything about throughput there, but it was late and I was tired so I didn't look too hard...
Re: VM Broadband Speed increase - new modem?
Well, got home and things were worse (10-15mbps) so called Virgin and they did some background jiggery-pokery and told me to switch the modem off for 2 hours then switch it back on again and reset. As it was late, didn't switch it back on again until this morning, but on a quick wifi test via mobile phone I was getting 100mbps+so hopefully this is fixed. Will check by wired connection tonight when I get in...
