    Switching ADSL

    Hi guys,

    Im planning on switching ADSL provider from aol to zen 2mbit, however will I have to lose my ADSL during the changover? I think with bulldog they quoted me 14 days loss of ADSL!!!

    Currently I cant lose broadband for more than a day or so due to work commitments however I would really like to switch.

    Will I definately need to lose connection for 2 weeks? I was thinking just carry on with aol till they switch it over?

    Cheers

    Andrew
    Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths,
    Enwrought with golden and silver light,
    The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
    Of night and light and the half-light,
    I would spread the cloths under your feet:
    But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
    I have spread my dreams under your feet;
    Tread softly, because you tread on my dreams.

    I don't really see why you need to lose broadband for any more than an hour or so. I migrated (then regraded) ISP over Christmas and lost it for half a day, but only because the new ISP emailed the new username/password to me rather than phoned me!

    All that I had to change was the username/password - the old one stopped working and the new one started working. Pretty seamless really.

    I would be a bit concerned that they state 14 days loss of service. Might be worth calling them up to check that.

    cheers,
    dave

    it should be seemless, bulldog will quote you downtime due to the fact they are a LLU provider local loop unbundle

    this means they run the equipment in th e BT exchange and not BT hence the downtime
