had enough of wag54g, need replacement?

Hi, my wag54g has infuriated me enough and i think it's time a bought a more realiable solid product. I have tried every firmware under the sun and the reset procedure but i still have drops every 10 minutes or so enough is enough. I'm not sure what the best replacement is. It needs to be relatively cheap, have a modem, wireless broadband router to the same spec as the linksys wag54g. I have heard of belkin, d-link but what product have you found to be the best. I run two separe computers both on wireless 54g cards. Thanks, John.

I had the same problem, this fixed it for me :-

change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304 and also the RTS Threshold to 2304 to see if that helped at all.

Stopped connection dropping every few minutes, but would still drop every couple of days. In the end I got a big drill and ran cat 5 though the wall.

Had the same problem ....try the following:

Go to set up, go to PPPoa settings, ensure that connection is 'keep alive', and set redial to 20.

Workes for me as I had never lost a single connection since. This is actually in the manula under trouble shooting.

i had the wag54g got fed up with it, so i got a make i had never heard of before (dynamode) its so much more reliable and the wireless signal is so much stronger. And the best bit is the unit it self is tiny compared to the linksys.

You know there was a big solar flare the other day that I'm sure is causing probs on some of my stuff. Funny thing that happens on my wireless network is whenever my uncle comes round in his sierra cosworth, with some silly alarm system on it, the whole lot goes wrong.

I know it sounds farfetched but I think there are lots of outside influences on wireless networks.

Have you tried the alternate firmware for it? It's supposed to improve things a lot more and add a bunch of new features..
