Exclamation I have spyware already after format

following the post below i did another reformat to try and sort it. It formated, but as soon as it went into windows it said ur computer is infected with spyware, please visit www.web-fix.com to remove. Your computer may perform bad. Windows doesnt fully load jsut the background. and thats as far as i get. I havent tried safe mode as i dont know how to get into it. Does anyone have a clue whats going on.

sounds like you don't have any service packs, have a broadband connection, and no firewall. the process is 1) download a free firewall such as sygate personal, put on remvable media 2) unplug your network cable/adsl modem 3) format 4) install firewall 5) reconnect to network, hit windowsupdate for everything it has 6) install some antivirus 7) download & install firefox, never use msie 8) disable the Messenger service in the windows services window.

that's spyware. you have it as a result of ignoring step 7, the 'never ever use msie, use firefox' step.

avast doesn't pick up spyware. anti-virus programs don't. anti-spyware programs do. spyware gets ontp your system if you use dodgy software which bundles it, or if you use msie.

you should use spybot search & destroy, ad-aware, and microsoft antispyware beta, if you want to try & remove the infection.

or start again with a clean system, and keep it clean.

Merlin4458: directhex has given you some good advice and you should follow his steps from a previous post, what you have isn't a virus(thats why your anti-virus proggy dosen't pick anything up) but spyware, get ad-ware and search and destroy, do a google for them, also a firewall is a must along with all the critical updates from windows update.
