email through ADSL

Sair has email account through Wanadoo and I've just signed us up to Zen Broadband for a few months til a new house is sorted

AND IT WORKED

but I cant get her email to SEND. It recieves ok, but it wont send.
I guess Wanadoo doesnt allow other IP's to send through them

is that right? and if so do I need to sort new accounts for us both, cos mine is gonna die with NTL soon too

You'd be right, you can recieve but not send.

I had the same annoyance when I changed from freeserve to Demon a year or so back.

This is a primitive method to prevent email spamming - SMTP servers will most often reject attempts to send mail through them if your IP is not permitted.

In the case of ISPs, they only allow their own IP address ranges to send mail - what you need to do is change the outbound mail server to that of Zen, and leave the inbound mail server as it is (Wanadoo).

Any "welcome pack" info from Zen or an FAQ on their page with their mail server details?

yes fella...I'm using that instead. Zen are totally organised this time. I have all I need. Was just hoping to use the old accounts .

Flash....it worked ADSL at Sair's house. Superb. You were right

TiG, Moby,Jiff I did it. 3 PC's on a router. two of which you'd set up ages ago with a DNS get around (cos of NTL) which I sussed and corrected. All 3 done in 20 minutes....

Moby....KVM switch so Sair can fly on one PC and have web sites open for VEF updates on other. All in one little room. You'd be proud
