    Possible Ethernet Issue with Router

I have a Billion BiPAC 7800DXL running firmware 2.32e. Last night without warning or having suffered any issues in the past the ethernet ports appear to have stopped working although the wireless seems to be OK. I am unable to access the router through the web interface on my main computer. One of the 2 devices connected to the router via homeplugs can't access the internet.

I connected my laptop to the router and this can access access the router through the web interface via wifi. I am really stuck on how to troubleshoot this issue. I have rebooted the router, replaced the ethernet cables.I thought it might have been the ethernet port on my main computer but this wouldn't explain the loss of internet connection via the homeplug.

Any ideas on how to proceed.

This is what homeplugs do, they bugger up.

Throw them in the bin and run cat5e directly to each device.

Have you tried connecting your laptop directly to the router via an Ethernet cable, then logging in with the WiFi off?
It's still unclear here as to whether the Homeplugs are at fault or the Router.

You're wrong..again...this seems to be the only thing you say in these threads, but provide no basis or evidence to support what you are saying.

Like anything out there, some things have faults.

I have used and know people that have home plugs and have for years without any problems. Just because your experiences are bad, does not mean everyone's will be.

Proof? Terrible speeds, poor reliability, horribly expensive to expand and install, waste of electricity, physical space used up at wall port.

Most people that 'invest' in it regret their decision and end up cabling up their house.

Ask yourself this.. would you install a powerline solution in the workplace? Of course not. And you spend more time at home than in work, so why would you out to use it?

Ignore bledd, he does this wherever anyone mentioned homeplugs. Its clear he hasn't even read the post, just immediately jumped in with his default response. I'm not even going to address his total non-sense and neither should anyone else. just let him whinge in his own echo chamber. Homeplugs are a perfectly suitable solution for those who dont have the time or ability to wire in CAT5/6

So If I understand the current situation, you have a Billion router which serves up the Wifi for your home. You also have a number of homeplugs connected which serve up 2 or more computers. One of these computers no longer seem to be able to connect to the internet via the homeplug.

Does the other computer connected via homeplug still work?

If you connect the laptop directly to the router, does it work?

What IPs do you get on the other devices?

So you have no proof, just opinions?

But this is a home environment, not a work environment, think you are missing that point. On top of that, it will cost far more for someone to have cabling run throughout the house then it would for a power line adapter.

Re: Possible Ethernet Issue with Router

The point I was getting at is.. people care more about their home than work.

Opinion..? Find me a set that can do even 50MB/s, that's under half the speed of a gigabit LAN. Sorry OP, thread is going awol.

Reply to #9 and go from there. It's worth rebooting all PCs and network equipment, wait 5 mins, then tackle it.
