Having slow internal speeds Asus AC68u

    Hi,

    I have a AC68u router and a AC68 PCI wireless card. I am using Windows 10.

Windows states that my connection speed is 526.5Mbps. When i transfer a file from a wired PC to the wirless one i get transfer speeds on average of around 3Mbps. a 400meg file takes 3 minutes. When i plug the 1 gig hard wire in i get around 70Mbps.

    The wireless speeds fluctuate wildly!

Anyone have any ideas on why the speeds are so slow?

Part of the problem is that you're mixing units. A 400MB file in 3 minutes is 18Mbps, or 2.2MBps

I'm assuming you actually get 70MBps/560Mbps over the gigabit ethernet connection rather than 70Mbps.

Wi-fi attentuates over distance and through obstacles so if the wireless PC is on the other side of the house and/or through several walls then that would be expected. What's the attentuation (-dB) figure?

The distance isnt very far and the walls are fine. Strangley i just updated the driver and i am now getting 26MB/s transferring the same file (a respectable 200mbps)

WiFi driver settings on the client side make a hell of a difference (refer to Intel AC driver configuration) plus if you leave the router WiFi settings to cater older devices, that will lower the speed too.
