Question Moving house, Vodafone broadband any good?

I'm moving to NE Wales, and have been using Virgin fibre in Surrey. That isn't available where I'm going, so having to consider the options.

Fastest speed is 76MB, and the top contenders are Plusnet, TalkTalk, BT and Vodafone. All around £30pm.

Vodafone is offering a Sonos 1 as a freebie to tempt me - which they value at £199. I've used Sonos but don't own one.

I never liked Vodafone as a cell provider, and switched away from them ASAP. How is their broadband?

Any other suggestions appreciated. I've considered a deal that includes TV, but then the broadband drops to 52mb max, and I have a family of 5....

    Cheers

all I can say is their customer service seems a lot better than the mobile customer service!
If you have been into one of the Vodafone shops and they have given you a minimum and maximum download speed take it with a pinch of salt as I was told a minimum of 51 down and am only getting 45-47 which is still better than sky gave me for less money.

I ended up cancelling the contract within the 30 day grace period as the Vodafone customer service was so appalling. I'm a little out in the sticks, and was getting 2-3mb on a 38mbs line. Kept on being passed from one advisor to the next, all with the same script.

Changed to Plusnet and they had it sorted within a couple of days, sending peeps out to service the house line, then the BT line on the road etc. Truly impressed.
Not had a hitch since, so very pleased with the choice.

It's not to say Vodafone aren't decent in the right context (good area connections etc) but in my case was poor line into the house, plus poor line on the road.

    Hope it's good for you.

One can never stop saying Thank You

Nice to hear that. Years ago Openreach blanked me saying they only guaranteed voice use of a line not Internet use. I had to phone back and say I couldn't hear people on voice connections to get any action out of them. My ISP couldn't seem to kick them any harder than I could, so the connection never was good.

Re: Moving house, Vodafone broadband any good?

I am with Vodafone after leaving plusnet and they have been brilliant. Transfer was smooth and I was without a connection for a from midnight one day to about 10am in the morning when the service changed over. Not to bad really.

The bundled router is horrible and cannot be put into modem mode. The WiFi range is poor (as expected) compared to my Asus one that I cannot use now. It does have some great feature on it however.

My service has been solid and I have had no change to my speeds.

Overall very happy with them. All for £30 a month for 79mb down and 17 up.
