X-Box live and shared connection

Okay my computer is upstairs I have the wireless connection to my router downstairs. Coming out of the computer it goes into another router into my xbox.

On the wireless connection upstairs (shared) I have IP at .1.10 and default gateway at .1.1 which works. On the LAN with the router I have IP at .1.11 and Def Gateway at .1.10 and then on the xbox I have IP at .1.12 and Def Gateway at .1.11
I have my DNS servers set all to the same (the one my isp gave me)
This was working before and suddenly it just stopped working. I have no idea why it might have happened, I've tried rebooting everything several times. If I have no cable plugged into my LAN upstairs, or if I have the connection disabled I can use the internet fine. As soon as its enabled and I have a cable plugged in, not only will the X-BOX not be able to connect, but I can't even use the internet. Even if I unplug the X-BOX it still doesn't work. As long as the router is connected to the computer I can't use the other connection to access the internet either. I'm heading to school so I kinda typed this in a hurry so if you are confused please ask! Any suggestions??? Thanks!!

Hmm little confusing.

Could you describe exactly what you mean by putting;

Comp1 = IP 10.0.X.X, Gateway 10.0.X.X
Comp2 = IP.......
Router = IP.......

Will make it easier to understand what you are saying.

Like I said, this worked before but one day it just stopped. Now the XBOX don’t work and neither will the internet if the router is on and the computer is connected to it. Thanks!

They all need to be on the same IP block. You have some on .1.xx and some on .0.xx

hrmm still not working

Okay the internet don't work at all unless I have the wireless internet on the computer default gateway set at 192.168.1.1 or .1.10 is that okay, and if not why might that be and how can i fix it?? thanks again! also why do they need to be on the same 'block'? just curious with that last question!

set the Gateway's IP to 192.168.0.1, and make sure every system on the network using the same IP as the gateway and dns servers. as well as having an IP address of 192.168.0.2-192.168.0.254 with a subnet of 255.255.255.0

Nope

Nope, that doesn't work. The internet just doesnt work, even without enabling the LAN to the router. I have no idea why it just doesnt connect. i even tried 192.168.0.10 AND .0.1 any more ideas?

EDIT:Okay I was looking at my router settings and local IP was set to 192.168.1.1, which I changed to 192.168.0.2 and used as my default gateway on my wireless connection. The internet now works but still stops when I enable the LAN.

EDIT: Internet also works if i set my local IP on router to 192.168.0.10 (and the default gateway of connection to match) but not if its 192.168.0.1

it almost sounds like some computer is running ICS (Internet Connection Sharing)... IP address confliction.. or something is just inherently wrong with your network setup.

so.... any ideas then on what i can do to fix it?

EDIT: Hey could it be possible that the router is broken/defective? Would that cause something like that? If so can I just eliminate it from my setup and it should still work? And if so do I leave all my settings the same or would I have to change something. I have a crossover cable but either the Xbox or the computer does it automatically I think since the light comes on if I just directly connect them. Thanks for all your help so far!!!!

Hang on the modem doesn't have an ip, it should just plug into the modem port of your router

Router ip 192.168.0.1

Rest of lan should be in the 192.168.0.x range and have a default gateway of 192.168.0.1

Should work then. However if you router doesn't have a net connection then something is wrong with the hardware as appose to a setting.

Both routers have a net connection plug. I am not too sure what I am doing I'm pretty new to this. I have static IP because I play warcraft and need to have port forwarding which is why the tech guy at my ISP told me that I should set it up that way. Doesn't the default gateway have to be the IP of the connection that it is accessing, so like whatever the next 'step' on my connection is should have default gateway set as preceding one? Sorry if I sound like an idiot, but thanks for your help!

you sound like your way out of your deapth on simple network premises here.

why not just move to a simple configuration and work up from there.

Simple answer to that: I don't know how. I wouldn't even know what to do to get it set up simpler. If you have any suggestions or can tell me what to do I would much appreciate it. Thanks :)
