    BT announces upgrade, what next?

    http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/02/10/bt_bb_giveaway/

    BT has announced a free upgrade for everyone on the BT network to 2mb from 1mb, personally this seriously puts the pressure on the likes of NTL, when BT has 2mb for £29.99 and the 1.5mb offering from NTL still comes in at £37.99, I just hope the NTL peeps upgrade us an make it worth the money, I hope they do, but knowing them it will take months and months....

    the next ntl "upgrade" on the card is:-
    300k will be 1Mb – £17.99. (5GB monthly usage allowance) (100k upload)
    750k will be 2Mb – £24.99. (30GB monthly usage allowance) (200k upload)
    1.5Mb will be 3Mb – £37.99. (40GB monthly usage allowance) (300k upload)
    you can "upgrade" now by phoning ntl and paying a £25 administration fee.

    not really much of an upgrade...

    Id still rather stick with my 512k and have no download or usage limits.

    Personally I cannot beleive the people who have helped NTL get through thier issues have to pay the £25 admin fee yet new customers get it for free, personally I think that totally sucks.

    Ill call them and see if I can get it waived if I stay with them, im gonna downgrade anyway, 2mb is enough for me and 30GB is enough too, a gig a day is just fine as far as I am concerned.....

    OOooooh so the BT customers can use their lowly limits of 15 Gb and 30 Gb a bit quicker ( i.e in a WEEK ) and get booted off for breaching their Terms and Conditions of usage and then join a proper ISP

    I think BT have shot themselves in the foot here... Mass exodus ahoy!

    I dont think you can actually get the NTL uprgrades yet... perhaps you can cancel
    then get it again.

    unofficial upgrades to upload.

    1MB = 100K
    2MB = 200K
    3MB = 300K

    I hope telewest take over when they eventually merge they always get it quicker and
    better.

    ive never had any problems with the limits on my bt connection, and i download a fair bit of stuff, play online games and just search the web.

    if you wanted to down load alot of stuff you wouldnt go with any isp that has limits in the first place.
    BT broadband will generally used by people who want to use the net a higher speed.

    My line only just handles 1MB - most modems won't even work - so I'd be after a price cut!

    I have a 512k BT connection and rarely do I get anywhere near the cap...about 10GB is the most I have done in a month, and thats DL music and game, playing online etc...
    I think BT have somthing up their sleeves...raised prices? Lower Caps?Maybe not... I dont know but I am more than happy to finally get my moneys worth from them!

    What I really wanted to know is: has anyone actually got their connection upgraded yet????? I hear it will take untill summer to all of them...? Maybe it will be worth canceling with them and then a week later re-connecting with them as they would probably put u on the new speed....????

    Anyone upgraded yet then??
