Aol 2mb Slow,slow,slow

I recently upgraded to 2mb from 1mb but now my DL has dropped to under 100 sometimes to 30! I have tried without much success with AOL's helpline (expected). My Kerio free FW lets Aol through in + out. I really dont like touching the settings on the FW but could that be the cause?
PS I sign on with & without the AOL software but its still the same.
My Modem is a usb Alcatel speedtouch 330.

It could be a couple of things at a guess..

Either your line is struggling to hold a 2mbit connection up (the restrictions on 2mbit are much tighter than 1mbit), or AOL has become over-run with people after the cheap 2mbit service, slowing everything down..

Virtually all current ADSL modems support up to 8mbit, so I doubt it's that either..
