    Anonymous Proxy Access

    Hi,

We have websense at work - which is okay, but it blocks things like Hotmail / Yahoo mail etc.

Would using an anonymous proxy let me access them? Also how does this work? Would it still be visible where I am going on the net?

    Thanks

    Josh

if you use something like cgiproxy you can easily get onto hotmail etc from work ( I used to use it to bypass that lovely bit of software you call websence )

also you can host it yourself if its just for your home use etc..

all websence sees are requests to the proxy

    Omfg How Lame Is This

Have you seen this, the websense here has a banned category named "banned"

Your organization's Internet use policy restricts access to this web page at this time.

    Reason:
The Websense category "Banned" is filtered.

Th reason why many corporate bodies ban access to web based mail services is that they bypass their inbound mail virus checker! Circumvent at your own risk!!

do they filter ssh traffic? if not and you can access a linux box all you need to do is download putty or just ssh in from linux, set up a dynamic tunnel on a random local port.

Enter your favourite web browser, go to config and set up a socks proxy on 127.0.0.1 and the port you previously tunneled.

If they block port 22 and you have your own linux box, you can set up ssh to accept connections to other ports...some firewalls would let you connect to port 80 even if it is ssh for instance
