I’m interested in replacing the stock BT Smarthub provided by my ISP. Many recommend ubiquiti, are there UK based alternatives that are to there standards at a better price point as it doesn’t seem ubiquiti products are abundant here.

I got Ubiqiuiti on Amazon easily enough with next day delivery. That was about a year ago - but I doubt it's changed.
Broadbandbuyer also sell everything Ubiquiti - cheap is something else so.
You don't state why you want to replace the Smart Hub or how big the building is.
If you just want reasonably priced WiFi that works for a large home I can recommend BT Whole Home WiFi. Best of all, shops are currently falling over one another with offers on those. Also BT seem to have pretty much ironed out all the firmware issues that cropped up over the past year. The system requires one of the units to be wired into your broadband router with a network cable and the rest are wireless (apart from a power plug for each that is).

Would also recommend BT Whole Home especially with all the offers on right now. Also you can actually backhaul all the units over ethernet if you want to, not just the first one. I do that with homeplugs dotted around the house.
Still leaves you requiring a router & modem though. If still you want Ubiquiti, I like the the Edgerouter Lite series. Cheap & stable, as for modem the old BT/Huawei EchoLife ones can be picked up very cheaply on Ebay.
