Virgin Media Broadband - Connects some devices, but not others

I am having murders with virgin broadband on Super Hub 3.0.

    Wired devices are all connected
Some WiFi connected devices connect, others don’t. If I reset the router then I can connect the ones that didn’t connect before but something else then stops working.

    Example of errors messages

Xbox One: Unable to resolve DNS servers
Safari on IPad: safari can not open the page because the server cannot be found
Chrome on IPhone: server IP address cannot he found ERE_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED

it almost seems like the router is limiting the amount of connections, and once a certain number of devices have connected, it won’t allow anymore.

I did try changing the DNS servers to 8.8.8.8 which did work on one device but then knocked something else off. When I tried this on the next device to get knocked off it wouldn’t work even with the new DNS setting.

Have tried resting router with the virgin help teams but hasn’t helped at all.

    Any ideas?

I have an idea, but you may not like it.

Gotto go out, so this is a quick and perhaps blunt way to put it.

    Buy a decent router.

Use that to connect devices, and link to the VM router in 'modem mode' only.

You may be right about a connection limit and may be able to find a setting to change, but I still suggest the above to be better.

I hate the SH3. As per Saracen's advice, put it into modem mode and plug a decent Wireless router into it.

Alternatively, keep it as a router but buy a decent WiFi access point (Ubiquiti are my favourite) and plug that into the SH3.

I use one of these: https://www.4gon.co.uk/ubiquiti-unifi-ac-lr-p-6642.html and it is excellent.
