Hi fellow Hexus'ers,
I have a problem I've come across and can't suss the solution
Virgin Media have let me down with my install on-hold waiting for permit and existing TalkTalk now been disconnected so stuck in limbo.
My neighbour has very kindly let me borrow their wifi but I still have local media files I need accessable on ethernet to Nvidia Shield, so I'm trying to setup as follows............
Virgin Media Wifi Hub (DHCP): 192.168.0.1 (not going to be able to change anything on here)
TalkTalk Router: 192.168.1.1
I'd like Windows 10 Pro PC to connect wirelessly to Virgin Media hub for internet, and through ethernet to TalkTalk router so local shares of media files are available to Shield.
Windows 10 PC:
Eth (static)
ip: 192.168.1.2
subnet: 255.255.255.0
gateway: 192.168.1.1
DNS: 192.168.1.1
Wifi (DHCP)
ip: pulling 192.168.0.3x
subnet: 255.255.255.0
gateway: 192.168.0.1
DNS: 192.168.0.1
If I setup like that then trying to access the internet results in dns errors and safety warnings.
If I disable Eth then internet works on PC but no access to files for Shield, and vice versa if I disbale the other one instead.
I don't want the heavy traffic of local media files to go through neighbours rotuer and hog their network. It's going to get congested with all the other devices on wifi so don't want to take the piss, not to mention poor stability of pushing 4k films over wifi.
Can anybody please give some pointers to get this going? I feel like it should be possible and shouldnt really be difficult but I can't figure it out
Thanx
