    Bt fttp

So, I have switched to BT's FTTP package.
But, being all fibre, it's different to my former Plusnet fibre which was FTTC, which was delivered by the phone line.

My home setup is such now :

    BT Hub router downstairs
    My PC upstairs

Downstairs, via LAN, I get 70Mbps.
Upstairs, via WiFi - my phone gives 46 DL 21 UL , a 300Mbps 802.11g USB adapter gives the same speed as well.

Now obviously I am not getting as the full 70 DL speed upstairs.
What do you guys reckon are my options?
-Get a 20/30m LAN cable and wire it all the way from downstairs ?
-Buy a new 802.11ac USB adapter with antennas ?
-Replace the BT hub router with my old Netgear router ( thinking along the lines of getting more WiFi speeds possibly ? )
-Homeplug ( bear in mind I do not have access to the main socket in my room and only to the extension lead )

As long as the extension lead doesn't have electrical filtering then you will be ok - for once, cheap ones are the best!

Hard wire. It's a bit of a pain to fit properly, especially if you have brick walls, but once it's in, it's in and will do you a looong time. No security concerns, no interference from your microwave etc.

I bought a pair of Tenda Gigabit powerline adapters for the princely sum of £23 and have set this up. Even though upstairs, I have this plugged into an extension lead, I am still getting the full 70Mbps speed.
